PHE Staff Presenting at the NAEP 2024 Annual Conference & Training Symposium

PHE is on the road to Minnesota! We are pleased to announce that two of our team members, Samir Qadir, PE and Christopher Rua, CHMM, CEA, will be presenting at the 2024 National Association of Environmental Professionals Annual Conference & Training Symposium this week in Minneapolis, MN. This event is an opportunity for environmental professionals from across the country to gather and learn about new projects, share technical knowledge, network with other industry professionals, and engage with leaders in the environmental field.

Samir will be sharing a presentation related to his recent work with the International Joint Commission (IJC) in the Great Lakes region. There are many small- and medium municipalities in the Great Lakes region that could benefit from an effort to share tools, networks, and guidance. Accordingly, the IJC has initiated a project to develop dynamic planning tools, insights, and learning opportunities designed for local and regional governments to support climate resilience in Great Lakes communities, in both the U.S. and Canada. This session will inform attendees about ongoing climate change adaptation and resilience efforts in the Great Lakes region and will seek feedback from participants based on their own expertise and experience. Samir will be presenting on Monday from 3:45 to 4:15 PM CDT.

Chris will have a poster presentation on display in the Depot Pavilion that will focus on performing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs). A Phase I ESA is completed to research the current and historical uses of a property as part of a real estate transaction or sometimes a commercial property refinance. The intent of the Phase I ESA process is to assess if current or historical property uses have impacted the soil or groundwater beneath the property and could pose a threat to the environment and/or human health. The goal of this poster is to provide a brief overview of the Phase I ESA process for those consultants just beginning their careers or provide a refresher for those who haven't performed Phase I ESAs recently. Stop by and see Chris from 11:00 to 11:30 AM CDT, Monday and Tuesday to learn more about Phase I ESAs.

These presentations showcase PHE's commitment to innovation, expertise, and proactive approaches in addressing crucial environmental challenges. Congratulations to Samir and Chris on this fantastic opportunity to share their knowledge and expertise on a national platform!
