June 2018 - PHE Staff Visits U.S. Coast Guard Station Atlantic City
/PHE’s Chris Rua and Chris Fafard visited the U.S. Coast Guard Station Atlantic City for a facility tour, hosted by the SAME New Jersey Post. Although poor weather prevented a planned boat ride, attendees were able to look inside the USCG’s 47-foot motor lifeboat (MLB).
According to Wikipedia, “The 47′ MLB is designed to weather hurricane force winds and heavy seas, capable of surviving winds up to 60 knots (110 km/h), breaking surf up to 6 m (20 ft) and impacts up to three G’s. If the boat should capsize, it self-rights in less than ten seconds with all equipment fully functional.”
