PHE Staff Sharing Expertise at Federal Environmental Symposium

We are excited to announce that two of our team members, Pedro Da Silva, MSE, PE, and Christopher Rua, CHMM, CE, will be presenting at the upcoming 2023/24 Federal Environmental Symposium, scheduled from March 11 to March 14. This year’s symposium, held virtually, centered around the theme "Environment: A Mission Asset," underscores the significance of collaboration, innovation, and shared learning within the federal partner community.

Pedro will be sharing insights on "A Machine Learning-Based Strategy to Assess PFAS Contamination in Drinking Water Wells." His presentation dives into the groundbreaking work we've been doing utilizing Machine Learning tools to predict PFAS concentrations, potentially revolutionizing how we approach a more efficient long-term monitoring strategy for emerging contaminants and safeguarding our water resources.

Chris will be shedding light on "Navigating New Hazardous Waste Rule," offering invaluable guidance on understanding and preparing for the significant changes brought about by EPA's Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements Rule, which went into effect at the federal level on 28 May 2017. Although the deadline for adopting the required parts of the rule have passed, several states have yet to do so and because they ultimately will, it’s important to be ready when it happens.

These presentations showcase PHE's commitment to innovation, expertise, and proactive approaches in addressing crucial environmental challenges. Join us in congratulating Pedro and Chris on this fantastic opportunity to share their knowledge and expertise on a national platform!
